ECOcirculate

EcoCirculate is an informative and entertaining outreach program that engages and activates communities, particularly nano, and micro-businesses, as key beneficiaries in the state’s drive towards a circular economy. This initiative positions circular practices as an incentivized social subsidy strategy, rewarding residents who adopt climate-friendly behaviors in their daily lives.

The program will feature a vibrant waste-to-value bazaar offering health insurance enrolment opportunities, free transportation vouchers, food items, and more. An engaging educational series, a talent hunt, and other exciting activities will also be available for all participants.

ECOcirculate Objectives

  • Accessing insights from understanding and consolidating successful CE practices at all levels of commerce.
  • Identifying challenges and barriers faced by existing CE actors to provide incentives, enablement, and solutions guided by a bottom-up feedback loop.
  • Informing policy and tools for building out the potential of the novel green market in Lagos State.
  • Facilitating and mobilizing the green economy on a data-guided spine of waste valorization at all levels of commerce.

ECOcirculate Key Activities

  1. Commercial Bazaar: A waste-to-value event showcasing and seeding various reward models:
    • Waste-to-tuition
    • Waste-to-health insurance
    • Waste-to-airtime/data
    • Waste-to-free public transport
    • Waste-to-foodstuff
    • Waste-to-clean cooking energy vouchers
  2. Green Advocacy and Sustainable Change Management Mechanisms: Building solid communication plans to increase awareness, community/business participation, and bottom-up data feedback systems for gaining insight and governance/business intelligence for CE in Lagos.
  3. Community-Business Linkages: Building partnerships for sustainable offtake and monetization/valorization of waste, ensuring post-event continuity and leveraging private sector CSR.

Safe Waste Evacuation and Improving Source Segregation: Supported by LAWMA and proposed off-takers across all waste classes.

Expected Outcomes
