OCCE Champions Sustainability Education at the EcoSchools Nigeria Close-Out Event

The Office of the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy (OCCE) reaffirms its commitment to fostering sustainability education and advancing circular economy initiatives across Lagos State.

At the recent ECOSchools Nigeria close-out event organised by the FABE Foundation, OCCE was a staunch supporter of sustainable education, echoing its dedication to nurturing sustainable conscious youth and leveraging circular practices to drive job creation and carbon emissions reduction.

In her keynote address, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Mrs. Titi Oshodi, emphasised the pivotal role of education in catalysing a shift towards sustainable development. Mrs. Oshodi lauded the efforts of the students and the foundation, underscoring the alignment of their endeavours with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s vision of a zero-carbon Lagos by 2050. She commended the project’s contribution to illuminating the path towards a greener, more resilient future for Lagos and Nigeria.

Addressing the students directly, Mrs. Oshodi expressed admiration for their commitment and creativity in driving environmental conservation. She highlighted the transformative impact of education in empowering students to be agents of change, transforming schools into models of a vibrant circular economy.

Mrs. Oshodi expressed her interest in a potential collaboration with the FABE Foundation to train youths in sustainable practices. Such collaboration aligns with OCCE’s strategy to leverage education as a sustainable development and job creation catalyst.

As the centre of circular economy initiatives in Lagos, OCCE remains committed to fostering innovation and empowering the youth to build a more sustainable future. The agency looks forward to further collaborations that will make Lagos a leading example of sustainability and resource efficiency.
