The event, which showcased innovative circular fashion, provided a platform for Mrs. Oshodi to encourage youth engagement in sustainability and outline how the OCCE is empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and businesses.
In her keynote speech, the Mrs. Oshodi emphasised the critical role of circular fashion in advancing sustainability. “Circular fashion represents a powerful shift in how we approach waste and resource management,” she said. “It’s not just about reducing waste; it’s about creating new opportunities and redefining value through creativity and innovation. Our youth are pivotal in this transformation, and it’s crucial that we support their involvement in driving these changes.”
The EKO Trashion event featured a runway of extraordinary designs made from repurposed materials, illustrating the limitless potential of circular fashion. “The creativity on display today is a testament to what can be achieved when we embrace sustainable practices,” she noted. “These designs not only challenge our perceptions of waste but also inspire us to rethink our approach to consumption and production.”
Mrs. Oshodi highlighted the role of the OCCE’s ECOnomy Business Network in fostering this shift. “Our office is committed to supporting young innovators and businesses through the ECOnomy Business Network,” she explained. “This initiative provides vital resources, networking opportunities, and mentorship, helping to turn visionary ideas into impactful solutions. We believe that by empowering the next generation, we can accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and circular economy.”
The ECOnomy Business Network offers a range of support services, including capacity building, access to funding, business development guidance, and collaborative opportunities. “Through the ECOnomy Business Network, we aim to bridge the gap between innovative concepts and real-world implementation,” Mrs Oshodi added. “By doing so, we are nurturing a community of eco-entrepreneurs who are equipped to lead the charge towards a greener, more sustainable future.”
The special adviser’s participation in the EKO Trashion event underscores the OCCE’s ongoing commitment to promoting circular economy principles and supporting sustainable initiatives.
